Waking up early in the morning is a hard thing to do if you’ve had a late night from working a home game; this is what you’ve signed up for. So to ensure you don’t just roll over and say “F#ck it”, here are some tips I use to start my day and get ready to put that work in.

1. Stretch
Although it’s the first thing on my list it’s really the last thing I think of after waking up and getting ready for work. In the end I know I will pay for it but that doesn’t mean you have to.

To be honest there are a lot of benefits to stretching before a workout, you can read up on them here, but I use it as the start of my day because I usually don’t stretch at all before workouts. To me, it beats a cup of coffee because I’ve tried coffee and it’s overrated.

2. Workout
I try to stay on top of performing morning workouts daily because it helps me wake up. A simple one mile run is my minimum, all the way up to a a combination body weight and cardio exercises which sucks cause I’m not a physical beast, Just a normal guy.

If you do this in the morning after a stretch you would have woken up and kickstarted your metabolism. Once again all without coffee.

3. Purge
Purging is the easiest of the three things listed here and I suggest you do this after stretching, exercise, and a nutritious breakfast. Take a pen and paper and write down everything that’s going on in your brain. From ideas to plain thoughts.

You don’t have to be detailed just get it all out. When it’s time the best ideas will be the ones you come back to and organize for future use. The rest will fall to the waist side.

Conclusion
As I said this is difficult to do after a long day. It will take time to adjust, not to mention a few alarms set on your iPhone. If you can get up early and do these three things you will have accomplished more than most by 8:30am.
